Gorgeous Day for a Field Trip

To culminate our Ecosystem Unit, our grade level went to the beautiful Brookgreen Gardens. The children were able to see a freshwater habitat by way of a pontoon boat guided by a volunteer. Many of my students had never been on a boat, so they were excited!

We managed to see populations of Cypress trees, old rice plantations, fiddler crabs, herons, and above all ALLIGATORS! Wow! There were some scary ones out their---thank goodness we were on a protective boat!

It's always fun to step out of the classroom and utilize what you have taught in a natural environment.

If you are ever near Georgetown, SC take a's worth it!

  1. Sooo cool! That is my kind of field trip! We have 2 that are life science related...I have to prep my class by telling them they are field investigations...they think field trips are "free-for-alls!"
    So fun!
